Dr. Viebranz has been teaching applied lessons in tuba and euphonium in an adjunct capacity at ÈÕº«ÂÒÂ× University since 2002. He also serves currently as the conductor of the ÈÕº«ÂÒÂ× Civic Orchestra. Dr. Viebranz is the Director of Instrumental Ensembles and Teaching Professor of Music at Penn State Behrend. At Behrend, he conducts the Concert Band and Athletic Band, teaches curricular courses in music and Arts Administration, and serves as the director of the nationally recognized Logan chamber music series. He also serves as the local coordinator for Erie's annual Tuba Christmas celebration, held each December.
Dr. Viebranz is interested in all things music and remains active as a professional musician. He currently performs as the tubist in the Bayfront Brass Quintet and the Bayfront Dixieland Jazz Band. He remains active in outreach and educational activities and has recently served as the tuba instructor and brass ensemble conductor at the Band Camp for Adult Musicians, held this past summer at Juniata College. He is a member of PMEA and guest conducted the 2022 Region 3/District 2 Honor Band. Additionally, he holds membership in CBDNA, CODA, and Local 17 of the American Federation of Musicians. He also serves on the board of the Cleveland Repertory Orchestra. For recreation, Dr. Viebranz enjoys the outdoors and all the great natural resources of the area. He can often be found bicycling or kayaking at Presque Isle.
